Draft of School Logo Policy & Usage Guidelines
DESIGN ELEMENTS
Logo
Parañaque Science High School’s logo (aka Parscian logo) consists of a 1990 rendering of one flaming torch shielded by a plain atom model at the center and a pair of seven-leaf laurels, all encompassed by the words “Parañaque Science High School 1990”.
There are two concentric circles: the smaller circle (aka inner circumference) surrounds the flaming torch, the atom model, and the laurel leaves, while the larger circle (aka outer circumference) surrounds the official name of the school and the founding year.
Specifically, the official name of the school consists of exactly four words: “Parañaque Science High School” and the founding year is: “1990”. For emphasis, the year is placed in between two full stops.
Typography
The typeface within the official logo is “Arial Rounded MT Bold”. It is a contemporary sans-serif typeface and contains more humanist characteristics that are in tune with the mood of the last decades of the twentieth century – especially the 1990s.
Color
The identity colors that have been developed as part of Parañaque Science High School’s identity are based on the school’s historic use of color.
The traditional school colors of Parañaque Science High School are “Navy Blue” and “Royal Blue”.
Parscian male students wear navy blue long pants. Navy blue is a very dark shade of the color blue which almost appears as black and which is widely known to be the color worn by military officers in the United States Navy, the British Royal Navy, the Royal Canadian Navy, and many other navies around the world.
Parscian female students wear a royal blue uniform. As opposed to the traditional and dictionary definition of royal blue as a deep to dark blue, Parañaque Science High School uses the brighter color or web color royal blue. This choice coincided with the operation of the World Wide Web (WWW) in 1991 when royal blue was designated by the WWW Consortium to be a brighter color than a darker one.
USAGE GUIDELINES
Rationale
The Parscian logo is a very important visual image and identity tool. It lends authority and authenticity to any tools of communication wherever it appears. It should be used on any Parañaque Science High School communication that reflects its mission and vision. It should be used in any printed materials, presentations, websites, merchandise items, signage, and other administrative purposes. Whenever the Parscian logo is used, it is strongly encouraged to use it only with sufficiently high quality resolution so it can be easily recognized and legibly reproduced.
Stakeholders
This policy applies to all stakeholders of the school such as the faculty, staff, students, parents, administrators, and alumni. Suppliers and manufacturers of commercial and non-commercial products must also comply with this School Logo Policy & Usage Guidelines.
Stationery
All academic, administrative, and support units of the school are required to use the approved stationery formats. Letterhead, envelopes, notepads, business cards, mailing labels, and other stationery items must also conform to approved samples, which are available at the academic office or alumni weblog (http://parscian1.wordpress.com). Every faculty and staff member should make sure the logo appears on all internal and external school documents.
Advertising (Print/Television)
The logo must appear on the first level of the printed/television advertisement in an appropriate size and position relative to the other elements in use. The school logo should not be altered in any way, and should be used as the sole logo in all venues. See “Brand Identity Guidelines” below for proper usage.
Brochures or Literature
The logo policy for use in brochures or literature is relatively simple and unrestrictive. The logo must appear on the front cover or the front panel of all brochures or literature in an appropriate size and position relative to the typographic elements on the page. The outer circumference of the logo should be no less than 1.25 inches. The logo should not be altered in any way, and should be used as the sole logo in all venues. See “Brand Identity Guidelines” below for proper usage.
Merchandise or Apparel
The logo must appear on merchandise or apparel in an appropriate size, position, and high quality resolution. The outer circumference of the logo should be no less than 2.5 inches, and the maximum circumference should be determined in relation to the item it is printed on. The school logo should not be altered in any way, and should be used as the sole logo on all merchandise or apparel. See “Brand Identity Guidelines” below for proper usage.
Website and/or Link
The school logo should not be altered in any way, and must appear in a clean and clear fashion relative to the other items within the webpage. The outer circumference of the logo should be no less than 1.25 inches. See “Brand Identity Guidelines” below for proper usage.

I think this is already good as final.
Kudos!
Posted by Jean Monique | October 24, 2011, 8:36 pmThanks Monique! Just saw/browsed your blog, but with limited features coz I’m using a mobile phone. So you love writing? You see, I’m finishing five alumni spotlight features plus one unique edition. All may be completed perhaps during first quarter next year. After that, I’m planning to go – if I may borrow the term – on sabbatical leave
. As such, while reading some of your posts, I was thinking of inviting you to be a guest writer/partner if you won’t be too pre-occupied… Anyway, it’s still early; but that’s just a heads up. I’ll contact you again next year via email. Thanks again! Cheers!
